Aero Precision M4E1 Review

Feb 22, 2024 | Reviews

We originally met the team from Aero Precision in the summer of 2018 at a local event. I was always a fan of their products and initiated a conversation on how to partner with them. I liked the fact that they were based in Washington. I looked forward to building a relationship with a Pacific Northwest company. One of the first products we ever received from them was a rifle that I am proud of and currently use in every Kids Firearm Safety 1 class we teach. When I first saw proof of what the design team had come up with, I was impressed with the attention to detail. Once it finally arrived, I was excited to open the box to see the Aero Precision M4E1 in person. The custom cerakote work on the rifle was first-rate. I was honored to see our logo both laser engraved on the top of the receiver and cerakoted on the side of the receiver as well. This rifle has been demoed in all of our gun safety classes for children ever since.

The M4E1 is a high-quality, American-made product. The team at Aero Precision incorporated some innovative features. One of the challenges for those who like to home-build their firearms, which is completely legal under most state and federal laws. The bolt catch detent and forward assist detent are both threaded to accept a hex-type driver. This is very forwardthinking on their part because there is nothing more frustrating than searching the floor for a missing spring and dent, which shot across the room. After your hand slipped. Ask me how I know, haha. I know firsthand and have always wished I had extras available. This is a great feature for hobbyist gunsmiths. Once I was able to set it all up the way I wanted, I was able to take it to the range to ZERO the rifle.

I ended up adding an Eotech Holographic sight, a Surefire Scout weapon light and added Magpul Mbus Pro backup iron sights. The Aero Precision M4E1 also featured a VG6 Epsilon muzzle brake attached to a Ballistic Advantage barrel. The fit and the finish of our M4E1 is firstrate. In our gun safety classes for children, we demo this very rifle to teach the public important facts. There is so much disinformation regarding this platform. We believe that it is our job as an organization to present factual information that can combat fear and emotion, responsibly. In our classes, we always start with the front of the rifle. The muzzle brake helps control the recoil by the way that it directs the gases during the firing process. Next, we talk about the flipup front sight, this is often used as a backup and folds out of the way until it is needed. The rail or hand guard helps control the muzzle and protects my hand during the firing process. There is a considerable amount of heat created when the gun fires.

There is a small tube inside of the rail that is the gas tube. The gas tube uses a small percentage of the gas created when the gun fires and directs it down the tube into the bolt carrier group. This process cycles the bolt to the rear, the spent casing is ejected, and a fresh round is loaded into the chamber from the magazine. This process continues until the magazine is empty, one round at a time. An important thing to note, the M4E1 that we received from Aero Precision is a semi-automatic rifle, not fully automatic. That means one round per press of the trigger!! This is often misrepresented as a way to scare the general non-gunowning public. I then talk about the safety selector. I show the families how it works and its functions. Next up is the adjustable stock. It allows the rifle’s length of pull and customizes the fit to many different body types. This helps with accuracy and manage the recoil. Another part that helps with accuracy and manages recoil is the pistol grip. This part of the M4E1 helps the shooter control the rifle for safety reasons.

Even though we first brought our Aero Precision M4E1 online back in 2019, it has been a staple of our kids gun safety program. It has been used to educate over 5000 kids in 2 states. We are thankful for the support from Aero Precision that we have received over the past few years. You can find out more information about the Aero Precision M4E1 on their website.

Thank you for reading. ZERO firearm accidents is the only acceptable goal!!®
